Maddy had decided to let her hair stay wavy this morning. So now that the day was nearly over, and night had started to fall she removed her hair from a bun. It fell long past her shoulders, and the colors were very intense. Bright purple, fuschia, and striking blue littered her hair. It was hard to miss her, and she loved being noticed. Last night she had colored her hair, and at school today everyone had complemented her. Well almost everyone, some just snarled and glared at her. School was over now though, and Madalynne was ready to go out into the woods.
"I'll be fine daddy, you know I will be." She kissed her father's cheek lightly, and though he feared for her life he did trust her. So she exited the house, and made her way down the path she had taken so many times. After about 15 minutes, she arrived at her near destination. The edge of the woods. Maddy's eyes brightened as she saw the sun setting. It was time to take a few photos. Snapping pictures as she walked was easy now. Never tripping, and walking with ease. Finally she made it to her final destination for this evening. Carefully she sat down in her favorite spot. The green grass was cut perfectly, and seemed to always be this length. She took in everything around her the trees, the flowers, the noises, and the creativity.
Within seconds her imagination kicked into overdrive, and she started writing things down in her notebook. Poems, and stories filled her mind. Everything was so interesting, and soon enough it was dark. The moon was the only light she had available, besides the flashlight and her cell phone. When she removed her cell phone, the screen brightened things a bit. Maddy realized that she had no service. That was odd, because she usually had service. "Stupid phone..." She probably needed a new phone, this one was two years old. A few seconds passed, and she finally stood up. "Time to go..."
Maddy was used to the path, and could get back to her house with her eyes closed. Something changed her mind though, something intrigued her. She closed her notebook, and just as she slid it into her bag a noise was heard. A cracking sound, and a brush of leaves. Her heart seemed to race, but it wasn't fear. It was more excitement then anything else. Brown eyes circling as she searched for where it had come from. Finally she pushed herself forward. Using the moonlight as a resource of light. It was pretty bright outside with the moon. The darkness was corrupting everything though, and the closer she was to the sounds the darker it seemed to get. She pulled out her cell phone and used it's limited light source to continue her path. The noises were getting louder and louder as she saw something in the distance. A shadow, almost like an animal or something. That still hadn't scared her. Maddy loved all animals, and knew that if it was time for her to die she would. Her eyes looked forward, trying to make out the figure desperately.

Alexi had been feeding, the body of the mountain lion lay at his feet, drained completely of all blood, the sunset colour of his eyes obscured completely by the bright blue contact lenses he wore almost constantly whilst he was in Forks, he didn't like to give any indication that he was anything other than a perfectly normal if a little goth looking teenage boy. The contacts in fact seemed to add a little to his appearance, they made his eyes that piercing blue color that made them almost irresistable to look away from. Many a girl in school had been berated by friends for catching his eye then found herself looking deep into their blue depths as if there was so much more to the kid that everyone seemingly shunned and refused to be seen with.
Alexi didn't much care about his reputation in school, he never had not even when he first started and one of the bigger kids poured milk in his thick, glossy black hair. Alexi had taken all of their punishment, he knew that if the lights went out and he was thirsty that all of them would be at his mercy and that he held the real power. Power that none of them even knew about, let alone feared. That was just the way Alexi liked it, he didn't much care how he was treated, he'd get through school, he'd controlled his thirst and he was getting better everyday. Well... mostly cause he was never thirsty when he went in. He was intelligent enough to feed once a week and that kept him satifised during his schooldays. He was punctual with homework, he knew all the answers, he was confident in his intelligence, but he was still so naive.
He'd gotten used to being all powerful, to people moving out the way he had no idea how to behave in a normal school environment having never been to one during his hundred years, he was prone to just walking out of classes or he was the first few weeks, he'd since grown out of that. Perhaps he was bullied because he did things that people don't understand, humans didn't seem to like things they didn't understand. He'd learned that from experience and from his Sire. She had told him that human's hated him because they were all jealous of the fact that he didn't have to worry about what they worried about. About looking good in the morning, about growing old, about food, shelter from the cold. They were all subconsciously jealous of him. Alexi just thought the other kids didn't like him because he wore the same sets of clothes. He had no cause to wash them. As he didn't sweat, he had a seperate set that he wore when he went hunting
He had caught the lion easily. It had tried to open it's mouth to roar at the intruder, that caused it's fur to bristle, to stand on end and it had been silence before the first cry had even began to form in it's brain. Alexi was happy with the way he had killed. He had driven a-.... he diverted his mind from such things. He contented himself with a soft smile. The wind began to blow down towards him and he caught a faint beautiful perfumed scent. The scent of a human, but it was familiar. She went to his school. Jade? Amy? Lynne? Madd-Madalynne. that was it. The one who changed her hair color faster than he could keep up with. The amazingly cute one, with the brown eyes and the soft smiles that she seemed to hand out more than she changed her hair color.
He gulped slightly as her scent got closer, he had hoped to put her off by drawing the darkness in closer, making it harder to see through blocking off all light from the moon, the stars, all light was drowned out the closer she got, luckily the clean up crew he'd created from the darkness had finished their job and his clothes were completely clean. The white shirt spotless, the black leather jacket worn but fitting his form perfectly, black jeans with ripped knees and a pair of black boots rounded out the look. He could hear footsteps as she got closer and closer, the smell of her getting into his nostrils, clouding his brain. he was suddenly nervous,
Madalynne didn't think she was the most attractive girl at school, but she was... she really was, the only reason she wasn't on a guy's arm was because her dad Mr Bryeans was well, a little aggressive towards boys. Particularly those that found his daughter attractive. Alexi for once was glad that he was so quiet in school. He was breathing a little hard and he tripped slightly as he made his way towards her causing a thudding noise as he flipped up off his hands and landed what? maybe twenty feet away, she was still getting closer, closer, he walked forwards again through the trees, the bushes, towards her, making as much as noise as he could in an effort to lower her... Wait... she wasn't on the path.
He could hear her behind him and he immediately cursed in his mind. How had a vampire let a human, a teenage girl to be exact. Out wit him especially considering she'd done it without even realising she was doing it. His blue eyes, shining a little in the dark turned as she came closer, his voice answered her his eyes caught sight of her colored hair through the thick, inky darkness. "Hey... Madalynne.... It's... er..." he was suddenly nervous, did she even know him? probably not, he'd never spoke to her in school "Me Alexi... You know from school?

The figure became noticeable now, and Maddy caught the sight of his icy blue eyes. They stuck in her heart like a wooden stake. Maddy softly put her hand on her chest and breathed in a little. It was Alexi, well he usually went by another name. Maddy couldn't remember it, but she did know his name was Alexi. Brown eyes looking deeply into blue, Maddy gently smiled. "Alexi, hi. You startled me. What are you doing out here in the woods so late?"
It was funny how ridiculous she had sounded. Alexi could ask her the same things. She stepped a bit closer and continued looking him over. It was obvious she found him to be cute. Alexi was her type completely, and not only that but he was a shy boy. The type of guy you wouldn't expect him to be considering his goth-type look. Maddy was more of a rave girl then a scene girl. Carefully she put her hand down, and continued looking at him. "Haha, I guess you could really ask me the same thing. I was just out here writing, and time seems to have disappeared around me." She noticed now that the darkness had nearly disappeared. The moon shown brightly, along with the large sum of stars hanging high above.
Pink lips and a smile still spread across her face made it clear she wasn't frightened. It was the woods, her favorite place, and this was her class mate. Nothing strange about that. To others' it might have been weird, or frightening. Maddy was different then others' though. She didn't fear what others' had. It was typical to walk towards a noise in a movie, but in real life most would go running. Maddy chased her imagination and the darkness made her wonder. Always wonder what could be found. Alexi was found, but was there something more to this story?

She looked into his eyes, she looked into his eyes. He could feel her looking at him, those chocolate brown orbs trace outlines, patterns on his pale, defined face before coming to rest on his own eyes, he could hear her breathing harder, her heart pumping faster as she looked into what she'd only see as blue, bright, active, intelligent blue. He however knew otherwise and he wondered briefly what it'd be like if he didn't have his contacts on, probably no different. Maddy wasn't exactly easily scared, in fact he was rather surprised she'd managed to find him throughout all the darkness without so much as a few shakes of fright. He found that attractive in a girl, that she wasn't even slightly peturbed by the thick darkness that had blocked her path she had just worked her way through.
He didn't however reciprocate the smile his pale face looking a little nervous, as he always was around most girls, if he could sweat his hands would probably be clammy, his hair would be all messy and he'd look rather pitiful, but he just looked a little shy, a little cautious as if nerves were preventing him from smiling back, just encase he made the wrong move, he said something she found stupid, or weird. He looked up though at her and responded "I was thinking of asking you the same q-question." he said looking even more embarrassed as he stuttered out his last word. he was getting better though, the stuttering was occuring less, but he tended to remain silent encase it struck at a particular inopportune period. Like now for example. "I mean... wouldn't your father have kept you f-from going out this late? the wolves are dangerous," He said that with genuine concern, after his run in with them... he wasn't sure even if he was safe. "And there could be b-bears.... I'd hate for someone to hurt you,"
He didn't even realise how that sounded before he'd said it, it sounded like he'd some deep, emotional connection without even talking to her properly before, he sounded weird, like a stalker-weird. He quickly began to speak again as in an effort to cover up what he saw as a mistake "I... I er... Didn't mean it like.. in a stalkery w-way..." he said looking down that mass of perfect, black hair obscuring his face before he looked back up "l-like, your dad would be upset if you got hurt and that w-wouldn't be nice," he was so glad that the dead Mountain lion had been disposed of and he was even more glad that they were nowhere near the place where he kept all his clothes sealed in an airtight bag to prevent the scent from getting strong and maybe alerting other vampires or worse.... to his position.
Smiling at what she said next, he'd already asked her what she was doing here and she'd given him her answer... writing. "In this light?..." he said looking around the wood was almost pitch dark, streams of moonlight and starlight breaking through the thick canopy... "It's a little well... d-dark," he said and that was true, even after he'd let the darkness that had been surrounding him face a little... "You might get l-lost..." he'd been round every mile of this huge forest....he knew it better than the back of his hand but as he shifted a booted foot he looked at her a little worried.. "I'm h-here, Because I wanted to er... go for a walk, it's n-nice to get away from it all," his blue eyes found hers once more and conveyed only innocence and nervousness
That was true, it had started out as a short walk to just thinking and he'd walked hands in pockets for a while until he'd realised he was thirsty.... the lion had been no challenge and now he felt truly satisfied, he hoped she didn't hurt herself, that could cause a problem, a huge problem, the kind of problem he didn't particularly want to handle so he looked at her very carefully, very carefully indeed. He was watching her, ready to catch her if she fell. It didn't matter how he stopped her hurting herself, long as she didn't bleed that was all fine. "I-I was j-just about to h-head back into town actually.... We c-could take the long way have a talk if you want," he was just so shy, a little scared, but more the kind of fear that arrises from being in a situation that you have no idea how to handle than any real fear.

As she listened to his speech pattern, she felt herself giggling slightly. This boy was so cute and adorable with his stuttering. As he asked questions' though, she felt she did need to answer them. So with a gentle comforting smile she answered the first few rather quickly. "My father doesn't enjoy me coming out here, but he knows that I'm old enough now to make my own decisions. I've been coming out here since I was about 10 years old, and at first he used to follow me. Now he knows that I can find my way out at any end of the forest."
Her eyes brightened when she said forest. It was obvious how much she loved it out here. Next it was time to tackle the other set of questions'. She noticed how he stood and it made her curious. He was still, so still, and even with small movements every now and again he was oddly still for human. Maddy's imagination ran free, and she felt the oddness of her fantasy world brushing against her fingertips. This was definitely the new beginning of her original story. "I carry a flashlight with me, plus my cell phone. I'm used to using the moonlight as a light source. It was oddly dark tonight though, but it cleared up pretty quickly. I guess it was just cloud or something." When she said that she mindlessly looked up at the clouds. There was a cloud to be found, but that didn't bother her. A lot of odd things' were happening right now. Strange things' that she wasn't so sure about. Maddy noticed when he felt he was saying things' wrong. Alexi stumbled over words, and tried to rephrase what he had said. "It's fine, I know what you mean. I can take care of myself though. I have ran into pretty big wolves before, but I just smile at them and they seem to run away. I'm not really afraid of anything. Some people call me stupid, I just think that when I'm in the darkness I am safe. I've never been hurt, actually I've been hurt more in town then in the woods..." Maddy was referring to her ex who had disappeared last fall, it didn't matter though. She was working hard to erase him from her mind. When he offered a walk, she nodded and stepped closer over to him. "Actually, that sounds great. I never really have anyone to talk to. So I could talk your leg off!" As she grew closer she tried to read his body language. Her blood pumped faster in her veins for his beauty was nerve-racking. It made her focus hard to stay on task. Of course she was able to do it, but he was making it difficult to keep breathing. How was he single, how was there not a million girls, or boys for that matter, hanging all over him. Sure he was ashy guy, but it made no sense. Alexi was perfect, so perfect and Maddy was the one talking to him right now. What did that mean? Stories poured through her head. Things she had been writing for years, how many times she had dreamed of meeting mister perfect out here in the trees. Of course mister perfect didn't stutter as much, and was able to smooth talk a girl. Still, this seemed like her story. "This reminds me of a story I wrote. 'Love Without Reason' It's basically about a girl who spends all of her time in the woods. Then she finds this boy one day, out here. They've met before, but never really spoken to one an another. Of course in my book he wasn't human really," a laugh escaped her lips, "then again I dislike writing normal stories. Human life is so boring. I like more excitement." She really didn't realize what she was saying of course she was dumbfound about him. [/blockquote][/blockquote] ATTIRE

He watched her giggle and that only caused him more embarrasment he had no idea how to behave around an attractive woman, let alone one that sat two seats away from in every lesson at high school, but she made it very clear that her dad didn't mind her spending too much time out in the forest, that was good. He'd be in trouble if she got in trouble, he'd be in more trouble, would her Dad look through his records, phone his references and find nothing but static? would he check some of the qualifications and find the schools responsible had long since fallen into ruin? Alexi realised he had to stop looking so deeply into things, her dad probably thought she was out enjoying a moonlitten walk along a forest path, that she had no cares at all in the world and that she was enjoying herself and that she was happy. He could still hear her heartbeat, the darkness was slightly tangible. The Darkness knew this because he knew this. Her blood was pumping faster, was she scared of him? her beautiful eyes had yet to betray any fear, her movements, her body language, she wasn't tense, nervous like he was. She wasn't scared of anything. But once again he did have to remind himself about who he was thinking of. Madalynne Bryeans.
She was so cute, her smile seemed to light up those eyes, seemed to carry some twinkly amazing feeling up from the corners of her lips back upto her eyes then across her face, creating little dimples that if he had a heart. Would set it pumping ever faster. She was the envy of most of the girls at school and subject to the adoration of most of the boys. She got flowers every valentines day, she got invites to the dances, she got smiles and jokes and friends. She was popular and he was just well. Cold. quiet, blue eyed, black haired and religious. He was nothing popular. He was everything that a popular kid at school could want to not be. Yet here she was, standing right in front of him, smiling and laughing and staring at his eyes, his hair, his face. Probably wondering how he got his skin to look so good, so many girls had asked him that. "Oh my god Alex ( they refused to call him Alexi) why do you like never have any spots ever?" he just explained it away as good Russian Genes and none of them had bothered him since. Yet here she was stood there walking in time with him. Looking at him constantly. It made him more nervous. "Well good... I'm g-g-glad you're dad doesn't worry.... he might start to t-t-think you have a boyfriend," he said with a cute smile of his own. he could at least try and make some headway with her.
He could feel her watching him as they walked, he acted a little strangely, it was probably why nobody liked him in school, he didn't really have all the mannerisms for a human down anymore, he hadn't really had to act like one for nearly fifty years and nobody really noticed how you moved if you were about to rip their heart out using a worm made up of darkness. But he felt strangely vulnerable in front of her as she looked him up and then down and then up again as if watching for something, she then resumed her monologue in response to his questions, her voice happy, chirpy. So full of life, so amazing. So musical. Oh lord. He was starting to like her. He quickly looked at her nodding as she showed him the flashlight, it'd probably stop him for about two seconds. He was fast, faster than a human could move around to stop him and certainly faster than she could swing her flash light around, the narrow beam it would provide, would allow him to easily wrap a darkness arm ro- He quickly banished the very thought, the inkling of the any sort of idea of hurting her. She was much too adorable. Cute. Beautiful.
Her eyes met his again as she talked about how dark it had been that night and he was suddenly a little more anxious it didn't show in his slightly jolty mannerisms, the way he looked and walked and talked it didn't look anymore different from the normal slightly odd movements of his hands and legs. "Well a-a-as long as you have s-something to keep you on the right track Maddy," he said trying his best to look worried, "I s-saw some clouds floating around earlier maybe you j-j-just got the tail end of one of those?" he said again looking a little curiously at her as he did. Nodding as she told him about the wolves, resisting the urge to shiver as she did, he had, had a run in with the furry beasts in which he'd almost been killed. "Well if I saw a wolf, I'd run in the o-o-opposite direction, I'd n-n-not take time to s-smile at it." he looked at her a little curiously as she said she'd been hurt more in town than in the woods, but he decided to let it be. Thinking that bringing such a thing up might cause Maddy to get a little dramatic. He wasn't good with dramatics. He usually looked away from them.
She was looking at him adoringly, he didn't like that... much. It made him feel odd, like he'd been punched in the stomach, very hard. He didn't like that feeling it made him feel like he wanted to hug Maddy, give her flowers, make her a house, buy her a ring, buy her clothes, make her feel beautiful. Too many things for it to be normal behaviour. He almost sighed as she began to talk about her stories, he could remember clearly from school how into writing she was, how she'd always talk about the super-natural, the unexplained, how she'd write these long, flowing love stories, proseful yet not overdramatic. "T-t-that sounds interesting," he said looking at her as she talked about a story that sounded almsot too much like the situation they were in, "What was he?" Alexi said with a smile "A mummy or something?" he had to repress a giggle
