Fear. That's what Alexi felt, he was terrified. Beyond terrified if there were words to describe the young red eyed vampire's condition they'd come close to near catatonic with fear. He was so thirsty, so very thirsty, his powers were refusing to work, his mind was muddled, confused, his normally intelligent, logical thought plans were becoming increasingly hard to remember, to factor into the boy's thinking as he stumbled through the forest, fresh blood still dripping from his chin little rivulets tracing a path of almost Hansel and Gretel style following him, marking him, his hands were covered in the viscous red liquid that stained his pale face. His eyes tinged slightly with gold. The blood wasn't his own but he hoped as he desperately and with increased vitality tried to find his way out of the forest. He hoped that he'd stumble across a group of normal human's who'd tr- no that was stupid. He knew what he'd do, he'd rip them to shreds, he was so THIRSTY. So VERY thirsty.
His eyes darted left and right as he paused for a breath, he didn't know where he was, well not exactly, he knew he was in the Forks Forest somewhere in the Forks forest that seemed to hold the town in it's woody embrace, it held the vampire as well and if he wasn't so very scared he'd have stopped for a second to admire the trees, the red network of gashes and lines that made up the bark of the individual redwood that towered over him, over everything. It was remarkable he thought to himself as he kept moving blood trailing from his fingers, his chin, how his mind sought to insulate itself from the fear that coursed through every fibre of his dead body. He threw a glance back over his shoulder and gulping. He could hear the wolves howling still.
It had been one deer, one small, tiny insignificant dear and he'd pounced as soon as he had the chance, holding the deer in the tangible, inky like substance created by his power whilst he ripped it's heart out with a darkness arm and drank from it. He didn't mean any harm, but he could hear the wolves howl still, their cries echoing across the silent forest. Alexi still moving at a slower pace as he was before, thinking he had a bit of a lead on them due to using up whatever energy he'd gained from the feed to throw up obstacles, create animals to confuse the wolves, anything to stop them from hurting him. Was so very thirsty. He yearned for blood, he wanted to feel the thick, metallic tasting fluid coat his throat once more, he couldn't wait, he had to feed, he was in danger of collapsing and that would be a huge problem. A very huge problem as his sensitive nose picked up that wet dog odor that had originally warned him of the wolves approach to begin with.
He had dismissed the smell quickly when he had been feeding, his mind concentrating on quickly finishing his meal before creating some sort of creature to clear away the remains, how was he to know that these abnormally giant wolves wanted a piece of his kill? and how was he to know that when he reacted aggressively and stood his ground that they'd attack him. He was lucky. He had enough energy to shroud himself a little as he ran the first half mile or so, which threw them almost completely and he had a little left to create a few obstacles to confuse the wolves. But here he was about to collapse. Yet he still had no idea why they'd pursued him, no animal was this territorial , at least not that he'd encounter and they'd have been easily thrown by the shrouding and the...and the...the.... he felt his breath leaving in more and more ragged gasps, he saw a river ahead and jumped. Jumped with everything he had left and landing. Barely on the other side he could still hear crashing through the undergrowth.
He lay there gasping for air, his red and gold eyes blinking. So.... v-...ve-..very thirsty. Looking up he could only hear them howling and snarling and rushing faster... f-faster..c...clos...closer. He called out weakly, with what ever he had left shaking with fear "Help!"

Edward had been out hunting, and he was tracking a few deer that he'd spotted. Carlisle, Emmett, and Jasper had also come along, but as soon as they had entered the forest they had all gone their separate ways. Sometimes they hunted together but sometimes they chose to enjoy solitude while still being within earshot of the other. It was foggy and misty in the forest which made it somewhat more difficult to hunt, but Edward knew he'd manage. His senses were tingling with excitement as he hid in some bushes near the does. He could smell the blood flowing through him and he had to admit, he was very thirsty. He hadn't hunted in nearly three days.
He was just about to make a run for the kill when he heard something behind him. At first, he thought it was another deer but that idea quickly left his mind when he heard the wolves howling. He frowned, and listened again, his mind completely distracted from the deer now. Something was going on if the wolves were in the forest. He knew Jacob and his clan wouldn't be there unless something was wrong. It was then that he heard another sound, this time it was far different than the howling of the wolves.
The hair on his arm rose and he had a sinking feeling in his gut. Someone was crying for help. The voice was weak. He followed the sound until he found the source. It was a male vampire and he was obviously thirsty for blood. It appeared he had already been feeding on some of the animals in the forest because he was covered in remnants of their blood. No wonder the wolves were active. If there was a rogue vampire walking about they were sure to sense it and do something about it. They tolerated the Cullens because they knew they wouldn't harm humans. A random vampire roaming about was just not tolerable.
"Who are you and why are you here?" he asked. "Quickly before they find you. I may be able to convince the to let you live..." He knew the vampire could smell the werewolves hunting him, which was most definitely why he had been crying for help. He knew part of the reason why the vampire was in the woods - he was thirsty and looking for blood. But there had to be some other reason he had wandered into their territory, and Edward wanted to know that reason.

This is more than you bargained for. Alexi was surprised when the other vampire came barrelling out of the thicker forest towards the patch of clear land at the edge of the river. He stood up slightly and almost fell over again his hand leaning on a tree as he gasped and breathed hard, his gold and red tinged eyes sought out Edwards if only to show that he was innocent of any crime, that he was just scared, alone and that he certainly didn't know why he was being chased by a pack of wolves. His nose picked up the scent of blood deeper into the forest and he was about to run off again, well he would've had he any energy at all. He was just too tired. Too sleepy.T-too hungry.... His eyes opened wide again as he was forcing them to do so.
He brushed a little mud off his black jacket and his white shirt was now almost stained beyond all repair.... his eyes darted around the forest slightly as if seeking something out and he spun on the spot looking around with an almost anguished look on his face before stopping suddenly and sighing. Realising that his prized possession his Rosary beads were hanging tight around his neck, as they should be the weak string, replaced with flexible steel string that worked just as well. But he realised Edward was looking at him intently as if he'd done something wrong and his mouth pursed a little his eyebrows furrowed. He didn't think he'd done anything wrong, he'd killed a deer and suddenly a flood of wolves had jumped him. Was it something to do with the fact he was a vampire? he almost fell over again, he was completely exhausted his hand shot out to hold tightly onto a tree.
He heard more howling and he grew more apprehensed his breathing already shallow due to his hunger, grew faster, harder, as if he was getting ready for a fight. But really he was just very scared, he could feel that fear leaking back into every part of his lithe, muscled body. Before he could even answer Edward's questions, he had to regain his composure somehow. He began to recite prayers. In his mind of course, he wasn't some religious freak that sat around praying when he was about to be killed, but he figured that any word with God at the last minute was better than none. So he prayed whilst the wolves howled and the fear slowly began to eke out of him and after only thirty seconds. He felt less scared, but at the same time he was nervous, ready to run, well ready to hobble. he doubted he could run for any more than a few thousand metres before he completely collapsed under the stress of hunger.
So very thirsty he whined inwardly. He wished he had just enough energy to make his darkness arms and then he'd be able to hunt and kill with ease and finally get rid of this THIRST. He rubbed his face, the blood and mud mixture that had began to solidify on the pale beautiful features coming off on his fingers. He was still looking at the tall, severe looking teenager with the golden eyes and he was trying his best to not sound too scared when he spoke. "I'm Alexi...No I mean I'm Charon." Charon was the name his sire had given him when she had discovered his power and shortly before she had left him alone in the cold streets of Russia "I j-just came over h-h-here from Russia..." It had literally been less than a month since he had half swam/half walked across the Bering strait, it was a good job he didn't feel the cold and that it was almost perpetually dark otherwise he'd probably still be swimming across there he'd almost been picked up by a group of Russian soldiers but he'd managed to s-... This had no bearing on what the other vampire was asking him.
He could see that the vampire looked nervous, cautious and very wary of Alexi's presence, perhaps he had not seen another vampire before... perhaps he was used to being the only one around here... just like Alexi, who during his hundred years had seen two other vampires and one of those was his sire, the other her mate. He shifted a little backwards away from the newcomer and heard the howling again which caused him to wince a little in fear. "I.. I..I j-just killed a deer... I d-didn't know that those giant wolves were going to attack," he thought it very odd that the newcomer thought he could convince animals not too attack, the howling was closer now and he looked at Edward pleadingly... "I r-really didn't know that I had d-d-done anything w-wrong I-i'm sorry..." his eyes softened and he seemed to shake a little with fear...

It. Was. Revolting. The whole forest wreaked of leech and the pack was far from happy about it. It was bad enough that they had to deal with the Cullens, but now there was a new scent-- a vampire they had not yet come into contact with. They had been howling, as well as communicating telepathically, trying to figure out how to take care of it. Of course, Paul wanted to attack, no questions asked. That, needless to say, wasn't what the others had in mind. They wanted to "be smart" and "think it through" before interfering. They would set up a plan while waiting to see if it would resolve itself. Why would they leave it up to the Cullens to fix the problem? Since when were they such a reliable bunch? Paul didn't depend on vampires for anything. He knew what he wanted to do and he was going to have to do it himself.
He ran as fast as his legs would allow, just barely dodging trees in his path. The scent became stronger by the second, and Paul let out another howl, indicating to his pack that he was going for it alone. Before long, he made out two figures. One was the stranger, the other being a familiar outline of a vampire--Edward. That was something that threw Paul off-guard. He didn't expect to see Edward with anyone other than his coven. Approaching the two, he immediately felt tense, his instincts kicking in as he used every ounce of control he had to keep himself from attacking right away. One on one would have been cake. Now Paul was outnumbered, so he needed to do what he sucked most at-- use his head before his outburst.
Assuming Edward had something to do with the other leech being there, Paul growled furiously, bearing his teeth, first facing Edward, then the other. What the hell are you doing?! You're pretty damn close to MY territory to be hunting , aren't ya? Who's your friend? He's got about fifteen seconds to run. The thought buzzed around in Paul's head as he concentrated his thoughts into clear sentences, with intentions of communicating with Edward. He didn't think the other guy spoke wolf, so he was set. He would only phase back if he felt it was necessary to communicate with the other guy directly. Being in human form with two leeches was a pretty moronic idea.

Edward realized that for some reason, his fellow vampire had neglected to feed and had become too weak to even hunt properly - which was always dangerous. He'd have to question him later how that had happened but at the moment he had a stickier situation to deal with. Paul had arrived at their location and he wasn't happy either. Edward couldn't blame him, but he immediately became somewhat defensive. There was one thing that could possibly save them, and that was that they hadn't technically crossed into the wolves' territory which was just a few yards across the river that ran through the forest. They were still on the Cullen's side, and that meant Edward had enough grounds to argue with the wolf. He had spent enough time around the pack to know who the shape shifter was, not that the wolf's thoughts didn't already give that away.
Edward looked directly into Paul's eyes and spoke with his thoughts, hoping that his new companion wouldn't do anything stupid like open his mouth. A wrong word could provoke Paul enough to attack regardless of where the actual territory boundary was. "He hasn't done anything wrong. He was hunting, and recently killed a deer, on our territory I believe...so unless I'm mistaken, you don't have any grounds to attack...according to the treaty."
It was true, the treaty between them said that as long as the Cullens didn't cross into the pack's territory then they were safe, and as long as they didn't harm a human. Neither of those guidelines had been broken, at least not recently. If this new vampire was a vegetarian - as coined by the Cullens - then Edward would do his best to protect him. He glanced at the vampire who stood just a few short feed away from him. "Just stay there..." he said while holding out his hand so that he didn't come any closer to Paul.
