paul kiowa lahoteyou take the left, i'll take the right, you lock the gate, i'll hear the choir. i don't wanna go to heaven if i can't get in.
REMEMBERING THE PAST
>>full name: paul lahote >>nicknames: nothing-- or he'll kill you. >>date of birth: august 3rd, 1990 >>age: currently frozen at nineteen >>date of change:september 10th, 2009 >>occupation: n/a >>hometown: la push >>species: shifter >>abilities: exceptional hearing
TRANSITIONING
>>height: 6'2" >>weight: 190 lbs >>hair: black, cropped >>eyes: brown, narrow, cold >>general appearance:
Paul is huge. Before he phased, he wasn't particularly big in height or stature. The transformation, however, caused him to gain excessive weight in muscle mass and bone density. He stands at over six feet, but that isn't the only contributing factor to his intimidating appearance. He has narrow, dark eyes that are often absent of invitation. His hair is dark as well, kept short, to his father's high disapproval.
>>face claim: alex meraz
THE CHANGE
>>likes: -rachel black (she makes him feel awesome about life) -being a shifter (makes him feel powerful and worth something) -eating (he's hungry all the time) -hanging with pack members (even though they're morons) -his heritage (he's proud of it) -having Sam's guidance (he could use a role model) -pushing buttons (what else would he do with his 'brothers'?) -cliff diving (the thrill is amazing) -sitting in trees (it's kinda his thing) -swimming (it relaxes him)
>>dislikes: -admitting he's wrong (because he never is) -being trapped at his age (it really sucks being a teenager) -vampires (damn leeches ruin everything) -patrol (as much as he'd love to rip a vampire's limbs off, he likes sleep) -being forced to follow Alpha's orders (sometimes for his own good) -being alone (it's not always fun for too long) -people (the one's who can't take a joke) -sharing his feelings (that's for girls) -admitting he needs help (it's embarrassing) -being around jake (when he's all leech-obsessed)
>>strengths: -physical strength (he's got a lot of that) -hearing as a wolf (it's phenomenal) -hard-shelled (you can't get to him easily)
>>weaknesses: -pride (there's a tad too much for his own good) -thinking things through (he doesn't do it) -temper (is as stable as a time bomb)
>>habits/quirks: -putting hand on back of neck when nervous -yawning really noticeably
>>fears: -losing Rachel to a leech, or anything, really -being separated from the pack
>>secrets: -the thought of fighting a vampire scares him to death, as he doesn't think he would necessarily win
>>personality:
Paul is a jerk--simply put. He is a volatile , hot-headed kid who can't stand people in general. Growing up in La Push was quite the experience, and it allowed him to get to know everyone on the reservation. His reputation usually kept people from bugging him, though it didn't keep Sam Uley away. Paul had always known that according to legend, his ancestors were descendants of wolves, though nobody believed that crap apart from the chiefs of the tribe. Apparently, Sam also believed in that crap, and Paul had no choice but to do so as soon as Sam dragged him in. Paul was different, like Sam. Paul was a shifter.
His minimal social life was reduced to second to none once he realized what a freak he was. Paul had absolutely zero control over the phasing, and nearly blew up into a massive ball of fur every time he got angry-- which was often, needless to say. It was frustrating, to say the least, though Sam pulled him through it until he was able to better understand his new life. Gradually, over time, other guys joined the pack, and it became a family. You'd think that with time and practice, Paul improved his control, right?
Ha..very funny. Paul is always phasing, and there doesn't even have to be a legit reason. He gets pissed off, and it happens. He can't seem to get a hold of it. He gets so annoyed with people all the time because they make such stupid decisions all the time. Besides, he's not interested in making friends, so why would he try to be nicer to people? He has grown fond of Sam over the years and is very loyal to him. He won't show that dependence to anyone else.
There is one thing Paul hates more than people--vampires. Those damn leeches are always ruining everything. He would happily go on an all night patrol shift if it meant an opportunity to rip one of those things apart. He refuses to accept them for any reason, which is why it drives him insane when Jake decides to get all buddy-buddy with the ticks.
He's not a very pleasant person, but even Paul crumbles under the right circumstances. He melts a bit just hearing her name-- Rachel Black. Yup..Jacob's sister. Paul imprinted on her, and has since been completely in love. He will do anything to protect her and he hates to make her upset. He shows her a whole new side of him that he would never show to any of the guys. He cares so deeply for her and she's always on his mind. With her, he's a sweet, caring guy who has more control than he thinks.
BEFORE THE BITE
>>mother: mary huron, 45, high school level teacher >>father: kiowa lahote, 49, lumberjack >>siblings: n/a >>other: ruth uley, great grandmother, 87, passed the gene on but did not show the trait as it skips a generation >>history:
Paul had always lived in Washington, and he had always been exposed to the forest. However, it wasn't until he was eight years old that his parents divorced, causing his father to move them to La Push. He was pretty popular and made friends quickly, though due to his being a bully, he wasn't liked by everyone. He was the leader of his group of friends and looked up to, even when it wasn't such a good idea to follow his example. He frequently got into trouble in school and around the reservation, doing stupid stuff like starting fights. His father didn't pay much attention to what Paul did, so he didn't get a lot of discipline.
Finally, he would get what he needed. He had heard the stories, but he never took them seriously. He had gotten home from school one day to find his father kissing some woman Paul had never seen before. Sure, it had been years since the divorce, but what the hell was his father doing with some stranger? This pissed him off, and was enough to set off his temper. Paul, wait-- was all he heard before running outside , his face red and sweaty. He felt something happening, but he couldn't figure out what it was. All he knew was that he was mad. Running from his house, he punched a tree with all his might, shockingly damaging the tree more than his hand. In the next moment, he was staggering to keep his balance, on four feet, with the world around him spinning.
Well, who is it?! I heard him, I knew it was coming. Paul's paws flew to his ears in attempt to keep out the noise in his head. Instead of feeling his hands on his face, he fell to ground, due to the fact that he had lifted his front legs up. He thought he was going crazy. The voices, the noise, the smells. There were scents.. everywhere. It was giving him whiplash, the overwhelming sensation of senses all around him. Everything was sharper. Soon, the voices weren't in his head anymore. They were real, and he could see the people they belonged to. Sam Uley and Jared Cameron stood before him, staring at him like he was some freak on display.
Paul never knew Sam at all, and he barely knew Jared. The kid was in classes with Paul, but they had never had a real conversation, as they hung out with completely different crowds. For this reason, it was extremely uncomfortable, at first, to become mentally linked to those two. They were strangers, basically, and Paul could keep nothing from them. It took him a while to get used to that. He never really gained control over his temper, and struggles with it to a large degree.
